Prompted by her passion for castles, Anne Mulder launched a Dutch version of Book-a-castle.com a few years ago. The website has since become a professional assembly point where guests can book unique holidays at very special locations in Europe.
Book-a-castle.com has been operational since 2006.

Anne Mulder, the director, visits the castles and stately homes several times per year and is in direct contact with the castle owners who have contracts with her. She knows most of the owners personally, and is in constant touch with them. She also has an agent in Spain. The locations on Book-a-castle.com are renowned for their good service and high quality. But most of all, for the personal touch they offer to guests. For Anne, this combination is very important.

Book-a-castle.com has a very characteristic supply of castles and stately homes. Many of these locations operate according to the principle of bed & breakfast (luxury chambres d'hôtes) or hôtels de charme. You will dine at a table with other guests where a dish of the day will be on the menu, which means that you do not have to choose your meal. Your host and hostess have built up a great deal of professional expertise, giving you a totally new holiday experience. The small scale of the location will add to your pleasure. Our guests regularly tell us how much they enjoy and appreciate this concept. The pace of life is leisurely and people take time to enjoy a conversation over a good glass wine. You arrive in the late afternoon, in plenty of time to enjoy a peaceful dinner that evening. These are not hotels where you are expected to stand at the late-night reception desk brandishing your credit card. If this is what you are looking for, we would advise you to visit a different website.

The castles that you may rent entirely offer luxury but are self-catering in priciple. We choose to offer more luxury castles with sufficient bathrooms and an estate with swimmingpool and or outdoor kitchen etc.

The other type of location we offer is the castle hotel. These are unique castles in peaceful surroundings, but with the character and convenience of a hotel.  

Each location on our website indicates which type of accommodation is provided. This is an important aspect of choosing your location.

In principle, Book-a-castle.com does not offer last-minute deals or special offers. Our focus is on quality and enjoyment. We offer many exclusive packages that can only be booked through our company.

During your stay, whether short or long, you will stay in a privately-owned castle or stately home. We also hold castles which you can rent entirely for a certain period. We refer to the other type of locations as castle hotels. These are castles that operate according to hotel principles: reception, restaurant, a range of hotel facilities etc. But they have a castle atmosphere.
