EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BOOK-A-CASTLE.COM

Do you have any questions about our website or working methods? We have already answered many of the most frequently-asked questions.

> Is Book-a-Castle.com a travel organisation?
No, we are an intermediary. Via our website you can book directly with the castles and stately homes.

> Does Book-a-castle.com hold insurances?
No, we are not affiliated to any insurance; your contract is made directly with the location. We would advise you take out your own cancellation insurance. Book-a-castle.com cannot be held liable. See our Terms & Conditions.

> Is it more expensive to book via Book-a-castle.com?
No, our rentals packages are no more expensive than booking via the location itself; moreover, we often provide exclusive packages.

> After registering, I received an e-mail with login details. What are these for?
These details enable you to make a booking; you have your own login details so you only have to fill in your personal details once. You can change your user name and password if you so wish. Remember to keep these details for your bookings.

> If I click reserve, will I make a booking straight away?
No, clicking reserve will show you whether you need to make a booking request or it will allow you to see the availability directly. You only fill in your personal details after this stage. You can safely click the reserve button without any serious consequences.

> Do you have a brochure?
No, our website is our brochure. We offer new locations and new packages every week. We would not be able to do this if we had to print a brochure.

> What is a château de charme/chambre d'hôte?
A château de charme/chambre d'hôte is a castle that is privately owned. There are guest rooms and an evening meal is often provided. This is called a table d'hôte; there is no menu, just a dish of the day. The locations are often on a smaller scale and you will usually meet the owner. They do not have a reception desk, and you will usually have to pay with cash.

> What is a castle hotel?
A castle hotel is a professionally run hotel in a castle. It will usually have a restaurant and a menu, a reception desk and credit card facilities.

> Is smoking allowed in the castles?
The castles have a no-smoking policy. A smoking area is often provided, but some castles prohibit smoking altogether. Castles and stately homes are susceptible to fire and these measures are in everyone’s interests.

> Where can I find basic information about the castle?
This is usually shown in the right-hand column next to the castle. You will see the nationality of the owners, whether there is a swimming pool, car parking etc., whether you may bring a dog and how to book. Always read this information carefully.

> If I make a reservation, am I then committed?

A request for a reservation is always a commitment. Our system will search for availability. If the location has vacancies, your request will be automatically confirmed by us and then by the location.

> How can I cancel a reservation?
Make sure you have read the cancellation conditions for the location you have booked. Send the location an e-mail, with a copy to info@kasteelovernachtingen.nl. Quote your booking details and your reason for cancelling. Make sure that you have a copy of the cancellation conditions for the location concerned. These are not always available on our website.

> The confirmation of availability does not show a total price. Is this a mistake?
No this is not a mistake. The location itself will confirm the total price.

> Where can I find a description of the route?
I
n the right-hand column next to the location concerned shown as a PDF file. You can print it and take it with you.

> I can’t find a street name for the castle. How can I find it using my GPS?
Castles do not have street names, they just bear the name of the town or village. We would advise you to use the description of the route on the website. We have learned from experience that guests using a GPS system usually have a longer journey.

> Do you have a map showing all the locations per country?
We work with Google Maps, so that you can pinpoint the exact location in Europe. We do not have maps per country.

> How do I pay?
You should always pay the location directly. The location will send payment instructions with your confirmation.

> Can I pay at the castle using a credit card?
Most castle hotels will accept credit cards, but the châteaux de charme/chambre d'hôte usually do not.

> Do you have special offers or discounts?
No, we offer competitively-priced packages all year round.

> What should I do if I have a complaint about one of your castles or stately homes?
You should take your complaint to the owner / operator of the location. We can do little to help you on your return to your country of residence. We have learned from experience that most problems can be resolved on the spot.

> Has the personel of Book-a-castle.com visited all the locations?
Every year we make a number of visits to the locations on our website. This is how we monitor the quality of our product.

> Why does the website not show a telephone number?
We are an Internet organisation and can be most easily reached by e-mail.

> What will happen to my personal details?
